Company to provide Hoopfest video
By Tom Sowa, The Spokesman-Review
Live videocasts will be streamed on the Internet during this weekend’s Hoopfest games, along with a highlights program next week.
Seattle-based YourSports.com will provide the free videocasts from about 30 games during the annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament in downtown Spokane. The company also is asking athletes and fans to upload video from the weekend to its site.
Starting Tuesday, the site will feature a top-10-plays videocast culled from those submissions, said company founder Chris McCoy.
The highlights and the videocast will be available online through July. They’ll also be available for cable viewers who have Comcast On Demand in Spokane or Seattle.
The 30 streamed games will take place at the Hoopfest Youth Center Court, which will feature championship games in the middle school and high school brackets, McCoy said.
Starting next week, archived video from Youth Center Court can also be viewed at YourSports.com for those who buy a $19.99 tournament pass.
YourSports.com was launched in 2006 while McCoy attended the University of Washington. He said Hoopfest is the first videocast the company is offering in Spokane. YourSports has three-year contract with Hoopfest as the tourney’s exclusive online content distributor, McCoy said.
